A Past

We all have them; we all have been through or experienced something that no one else could ever understand or imagine experiencing. Each person you meet has been drastically impacted by something that they personally encountered. But because our world travels so quickly, we tend to forget or not pay attention to the things that make us individually complex. Each of us have a story (or a plethora of stories) that help explain how our perception of life came to be. I love getting to hear peoples testimony. There is something so special about hearing an individual humble themselves and share their story with you. You really get to learn a lot about a person and where their heart is.

While our past definitely influences us, it is our choice to decide what we want to do with it. We have the power to use our past to bless and benefit others. We have the opportunity to help others and to work towards what we are passionate about. Our past is written daily. Be and do what you love so that when your time on this earth is over, people will know what you stood for and why. Continue writing your own history and continue pursuing the things you love.

I always refer back to my fathers favorite quote, but it just so fitting:

“Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it.”- Charles R. Swindoll

“But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 3:13-14
