When you think of Paris, what images come to mind? I’m guessing the Eiffel Tower, baguettes, wine, cheese, macarons and croissants likely made your list. Am I right? I am a huge fan of each of these things and can’t go a day in Paris without enjoying at least one croissant. Anyone else with me? So when we began planning our babymoon in Paris we knew we wanted to take a croissant making class. And after much research {and now experience}, I truly believe we found the best croissant making class in Paris!
Did you know traditional French croissants take about 12 hours to make from start to finish? Yikes!! {Yes, I will now forever have a much deeper appreciation for each delicious bite I take from my croissant}. Luckily, Le Foodist found a way to lead us through all of the steps in only 3 hours.
Our instructor {Amanda} was so knowledgable and made the process really fun. Since making croissants take so long, she had pre-prepared croissant dough to various steps. So we had the chance to do each step of the croissant making process, without the waiting time in between {rising, chilling, waiting, etc.}.
And once we finished making the dough, we had the option to make whatever kind of croissants we wanted- plain, chocolate, raisin, etc. Caleb and I opted to make both traditional croissants and chocolate croissants and they were divine!! I’m not even embarrassed to admit we ate every croissant we brought home!
If you are thinking about taking a baking or cooking class in Paris, you MUST book a class with Le Foodist. We loved their croissant making class and already decided we must return to take their macaron making class {although their wine classes and cooking classes intrigued me too}. We loved the small class size, gorgeous kitchen in the basement/cave and the staff. We will absolutely be back for another class!!
What kind of baking or cooking class
would you want to take in Paris?

January 16, 2018 at 11:22 amYum, I love croissants and no one does them better than the French. Although, here in Italy, we call them cornetto, but they look and taste as delicious! I love cooking classes, and this one looks like something I’d participate in.

January 16, 2018 at 12:15 pmI love bread of all kinds, and this post has got my mouth watering properly! Would you send me a box of croissants? Hehe. Actually I think that if you make your own, you win twice, from satisfaction and flavour. What a great way to spend the day!

January 16, 2018 at 3:40 pmWhat a great and fun idea to join a baking croissant class in Paris! I knew that it takes awhile to bake a croissant but not up to 12hours! We live in Switzerland so we have this tradition to eat croissant for breakfast too but I have never tried to make ourself. Now you just gave me an idea for this coming weekend to do with my husband and daughter. And if I fail I will definitely take course at Le Foodist in Paris!

January 16, 2018 at 5:13 pmMy mouth was watering too much. So stepped out of the flat, went to a bakery, bought some croissant, came back to the screen, opened sky scanner, checked flighty… Really, for a bakery lover this post is much more than a simple temptation!

January 16, 2018 at 10:18 pmOh my, 12 hours??? Why on earth does it take that long? Did you find out why? Good, they replicated in only 3. Yes, I would be interested more in Le Foodist’s cooking class!

January 17, 2018 at 1:20 amI am a sucker for croissants especially sweet ones. This is so amazing and a fun thing to do while in Paris. It’s so amazing to not only get to try authentic croissants from Paris but also learn how they are made! It’s given me more appreciation for them realizing how complex the steps are!

January 17, 2018 at 3:07 pmLooks like you guys had a fun time! I also had no idea that the croissants took 12 hours to make! That’s incredible that they were able to get you making them in only 3 hours. I love being able to take cooking classes in countries that I visit. It certainly helps me feel more connected to the place.
