Boys Bedroom Inspiration

Why are kids rooms so much fun to design?! Cayson & Ciaran shared a room in NYC, so I’m thrilled to have two kids rooms to decorate!

Cayson, being the strongly opinionated 4 year old he is, has big opinions about how his new room will look {which I love}! But I really love that he is young enough that I can still micromanage the details. He is convinced he wants a dinosaur bedroom and while that wouldn’t be my first choice, I love it for him! In his room, I want to create a space that has a good ‘foundation’ that can grow with him, even if the dinosaur theme doesn’t last for years.

For Ciaran, I’ve always loved all things nautical, so I would really love to play into that theme- especially since we are only 2 miles from the beach. No designs are set in stone at this point, but I do believe I want at least one accent wall in each of their bedrooms covered in wallpaper.

Below are the two design concepts I’m kind of envisioning in my mind. I am by no means an interior designer and the specific pieces selected in the image are {at this point} completely conceptual/inspirational and not the actual pieces we will be purchasing. But I would LOVE your suggestions on any brands you love, pieces you like or general advice! The dressers are actually in the closets for both boys, so I’m not including them in the design inspiration.

For furniture and decor, I’ve had tons of luck purchasing items from both Wayfair and Etsy. We bought tons of items from Wayfair when we were decorating our vacation rentals and were very impressed by their customer service. So naturally, it was one of the first places I turned for decor and furniture. But I’m open to any and all suggestions on where to shop! We also had custom signs made on Etsy for the vacation homes and love the idea of having the kids names hanging in their rooms. Again, I haven’t purchased anything yet- but many of the items in the inspiration boards are from Wayfair or Etsy.

I have never installed wallpaper before {since we were renting in NYC}, but have always wanted to use it! So I am thrilled to finally add wallpaper to our space! I recently learned about a wallpaper company called Love Vs Design and was blown away by their options! {who knew there were so many options!?} They have hundreds of patterns and every pattern can be customized with different colors. Once I found the wallpapers I liked best, I had way too much fun trying out the 40+ different shades of blue. I’ve literally never seen so many customizable wallpaper options. If you have ever hung wallpaper or if you have any input on how to best use wallpaper in a bedroom- please share your insight!!
