Sonoma Secret

If you have been following my blog for the past two months you know that my life/schedule has been somewhat hectic. Over the course of the last two months I believe that I have spend a total of a 15 nights (not consecutively) in my own bed in Texas. While on these wonderful little trips I keep thinking of all the sweet little posts I would love to share with you all. (Too bad I can’t mentally take notes that are automatically sent to my computer… Hopefully I will get to sharing them soon.) But tonight I find myself exhausted due to the fact that I am on the New York timezone in California. Although it is 11:30 in NY, it is only 8:30 here in California, therefore I cannot go to bed without feeling like I have wasted part of my day. So this is the perfect opportunity for me to cuddle up in bed with a cup of tea and share a little secret location we found in Sonoma. Okay, it’s not a secret place… but it is new to me. My family comes to Sonoma somewhat frequently and normally stays at the Hidden Oak Inn which is a lovely bed and breakfast owned by one of our old neighbors in Texas. The location is perfect and the rooms are charming. But this time we were unable to reach the owner before our visit and we found our way to the Ramekins Inn. It is actually a culinary school and inn and is adorable! You can take private cooking lessons here (which my father has actually done and highly suggested), enjoy the outdoors fireplace area and garden, complimentary breakfast and more. And the decorations are just too cute- I wish I had already taken pictures of it all! If you come to Sonoma, California ever I highly recommend staying here and visiting Scribe, my favorite winery ever. Fun little fact- Scribe was initially bought 400 acres in 1858, the vineyard was turned into a turkey farm during the prohibition and now it is a small “boutique” vineyard run by only 11 people. Each bottle is numbered and states the number of barrels produced for that specific variety and year. And each variety of wine  has a short saying which represents that given year. The saying may be inspired by something significant that happened to the family that year, the weather, a poem, or just about anything that strikes the owners fancy. So rather than remembering that you love the 2011 Riesling, you may remember  “Westward I go free.” How sweet is that?

I will have to make a note of the Ramekins Inn – I love weekend getaways where you have activities or learn something, and Nate and I have always wanted to take a cooking class together. Thanks for sharing!

P.S. I have a mini journal I keep in my purse to keep thoughts, verses and blog ideas whenever they come to mind so I can remember to write about it later if I’m not near my computer. It’s also kind of fun to jot down fun things throughout the day and remember them later.

    Have a great weekend!
