Spinning

There is something so beautiful and graceful about the art of ballet. In my last semester of college I was blessed with the opportunity to take what will probably be my last ballet class (it may as well have been my first as well… I’m quite a novice). One of the main things that I have learned from this class is that in ballet you must remain focused. It is imperative to have a focal point.

Sarah Young from Jesus calling points out that just like “spinning ballerina must keep returning her eyes to a given point to maintain her balance, so you must keep returning your face to [God]. Circumstances are in flux, and the world seems to be whirling around you. The only way to keep your balance is to fix your eyes on [the Lord], the One who never changes. If you gaze too long at your circumstances, you will become dizzy and confused.”

We must make Him our focal point as we move through today, tomorrow and everyday.

Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

I always love a good ballet and Biblical analogy. :-)
