What to do in Kilrush, Ireland

Kilrush was not on our original itinerary and originally planned on driving to Dingle, but we made so many stops during our drive that we ended up spending the night in Kilrush. And honestly, we were so exhausted from walking around so much in Galway that Kilrush was a perfect little stop for us. It was a quiet, sleepy coastal town- but was precious none the less. We wouldn’t stop here again in the future, but it worked well as a place to simply sleep & continue on the road!

Here are my tips on what to do in Kilrush, Ireland!

Itinerary

You definitely don’t need more than 1 night here and I would skip this city in the future.

Hotel

Restaurants

  • Crotty’s Pub {really good food & beer}

  • Walk

    I’m living in Dublin now, but haven’t spent too much time in the west of Ireland or at Dingle. Kilrush sounds like a lovely little town to stop at. Love your photos.

    Kilrush does look like a tiny but very cosy town. Perhaps not very much to do there than to take a simple walk which is good sometime. And sometimes we discover cool thing we dont expect in a tiny town as Kilrush!

    I wish I would’ve known about Kilrush when I was in Ireland earlier this year! Definitely adding it to the list for when I have a chance to return to Ireland. I LOVE your photos btw!

    I like your honesty in this post, it’s refreshing to be honest! I loved visiting County Kerry, but I’m sure that many places like Kilrush only need 1 night to see everything! Loved your photos, they have a nice tint to them.

    Kilrush looks lovely colorful town but yes from your post it looks that there is not much to do, so one night is sufficient. The streets are looking decorated with fairy lights which must be beautiful in night. Crotty’s accomodation also looks like a comfortable stay. As I love nature, I would definitely go for Vandeleur garden.

    One of my friends has recently shifted to Ireland and only has good things to say. After seeing your pictures I know what she was talking about. Kilrush is such an offbeat travel destination. Though, unlike you I would love to stop here. I enjoy exploring obscure places like this.

    What a cute place!! I wish we had stayed in Galway longer when we were there. Either way, it’s such a beautiful area!

    The town looks beautiful in the pictures. It is one of those that need to be explored by foot. Bet there are interesting things to see in every lane,

    Kilrush offers trips to monastic Scattery island which is a microcosm of Irish history and if you are in town at the right time, live music, traditional dancing weekend and 10 minutes drive, a stunning cliff walk in Killkee

    kilrush is a dump, you can easily get scammed, drugs are rife and muggings a constant threat.
