Picture Perfect Proposal

The Lord has blessed me beyond my wildest dreams. This year on spring break, not only did I get to spend the week with three of my favorite people but we created memories that will last a lifetime.

Since I was a little girl, I have always loved the beach and sunsets. (Up until about a year ago it had actually been my dream to get married on the beach at sunset).  Knowing my love of these two things, Caleb thought Cozumel would be the perfect place to propose. And he was right. He was even sweet enough to include my parents by asking them to play paparazzi!

Little did I know, Caleb had called my father a couple weeks prior to our trip to ask him if they could meet for dinner and talk. My dad flies out to Atlanta occasionally for work so the two of them were able to meet in Atlanta at the Cheesecake Factory. (Caleb had led me to believe he was in Cleveland and my father had led me to believe he was still in Dallas). Over dinner Caleb had asked for my father’s permission and blessing for my hand in marriage. He even let my dad see the ring!

On the first full day of our vacation in Cozumel (which happened to be Caleb and my six month anniversary) we went snorkeling behind the house we rented and enjoyed the day in the sun. It was wonderful. Initially, we had planned to go to the Lighthouse on the island and walk around on the beach but because it was Sunday the lighthouse closed early. So my mom, knowing what Caleb had planned, asked one of our neighbors where she suggested we should go. She recommended Paradise Beach.

Being completely normal for my family, we grabbed all 3 of our cameras, hopped in the car and headed for the other beach. Upon arriving at the beach Caleb recommended we split so we could have our individual “couples” time, so my parents went one way and we went another. (I probably should note that prior to this vacation my dad had mentioned that this would be a great opportunity for him to take photos of the two of us and he loves using his camera, so I thought nothing of him taking so many pictures of the two of us).

Caleb and I walked and laughed as usual as we walked barefoot along the shore. It was so nice to be by his side again after not seeing him for over two months. As we were walking Caleb brought up how crazy it was that we met 298 days ago, then started dating 117 days after that day, then said I love you 41 days after that. The Lord had blessed us both by putting us in each other’s lives. Finally we stopped walking and looked out at the sunset (which was literally picture perfect).  As we were looking out at the water Caleb pointed out in to the distant and asked if I saw something (Caleb had told my father that right after he did this he was going to propose). When I turned around Caleb was on one knee asking me to marry him. I was just about speechless I was so happy!!

Finally my parents came up to us to congratulate and hug us both. Together we all prayed then took photos.

It was literally the perfect way to start out a vacation.

Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.
