I’m a big believer in the power of writing down a goal. I’ve found when I write down my goals I am far more likely to actually achieve them. And I’m even more likely to achieve them if I share my goals with others. So here I am, sharing 10 things I want to do before I turn 30. Technically, I still have a few years before my 30th birthday, but some of these goals might take some time. {please note, they are in no specific order}
What are some things you want to do before you turn 30?
- Become a better cook. Growing up we used to grill all the time. I actually can’t remember many dinners where we didn’t grill something. I SO wish we had a grill here in NYC, but alas we don’t. I’m fabulous at ordering food for delivery, but when it comes to actually cooking and meal planning I am lost. It’s time for me to become a better cook and learn how to meal plan. Any tips? I have a plethora of memories with my family around our dining table and I really want to have that with our family. We ate together as a family around our table almost every night- regardless of our sports or schedules.
- Learn French. This has been on my ‘goal’ list since I first visited Paris in 6th grade. Now that Cayson is here my free-time is much more sparse, but I really do want to make this happen. I also really want Cayson to grow up learning French, so I’m hoping we can kind of learn together. Once he is a bit older I want to watch my favorite Disney movies together in French {is this hopeful thinking? ha} and find other language practicing games we can do together.
- Visit 30 countries. So far I’m at 27, so I’m close. You can see my travel bucket list here. What places are on your travel bucket list? Or do you have any places/cities I should add to my bucket list?
- Take a spontaneous trip. I SO wish I had standby privileges, as I would love to show up to an airport with a packed bag and just jump on whatever flight looked like fun without breaking the bank. But one day, I really do want to try this! I’m such a planner and I think it would be fun to take a more spontaneous trip.
- Read more. I love reading, but since Cayson was born I haven’t read a book for pleasure once… I’m not proud of it, but that’s the truth. I’ve purchased a few books I want to read on my kindle, but haven’t started them yet. Hopefully I’ll get to start reading again soon. I want to read at least one book a month again.
- Finish building our vacation home. We have talked about building our vacation home for years now. It’s time we finally do it! Plus, we will rent it out when we aren’t there and can make a profit on it. Win-win! We’ve started talking design and have the builder, but now it’s time to take the next step.
- Have another baby. I think we want 2 biological kids, but who knows. I also love the idea of adopting a boy from Uganda and a girl from Asia.
- Visit more of the U.S.. Growing up we did a lot of road trips, so technically I have visited about 40 states. But I want to spend some real time exploring America. I would love to spend more time in Charleston, Austin, Cape Cod, Portland, Seattle, Washington and so many other destinations! What are some of your favorite cities?
- Learn to ballroom dance. Technically I learned to ballroom dance at Cotillions, but I don’t remember much of it. I would love to take dancing lessons with Caleb. Anyone else want to dance like they do in this scene in The Wedding Date?
- Learn more about my heritage. My mom is 100% Russian and I would love to learn more about my ancestry and then go to Russia with my family!

Can’t wait to watch Disney movies with Cayson. I will likely select the English version though.
These are good things to accomplish for sure!!
