“Anything worth doing is worth doing poorly until you learn to do it well.” Jim Akers

Can I get an amen? In today’s world and with social media it is so easy to get caught in the trap of comparison. There are times when I feel called to do something or simply yearn to do something, but put it on the back burner because I see others doing it so well and know that my skills pale in comparison.

The past few weeks I have been praying for clarity. I know that we are each uniquely and beautifully made. We each have a purpose and an adventure designed specifically for us. In Tape Breakers Jim Akers wrote,

“Clarity pushes randomness, confusion and hesitancy to the sideline.
Clarity eliminates distractions
and focuses your thoughts and actions
on what you have identified as being important.
Clarity infuses you with persistent determination.”

So this month, I am fervently praying for the Lord to give me the clarity to see what matters and to see what clutter in my life needs to be eliminated. I don’t want to be distracted by the things that are unimportant or let comparison hinder my purpose. I want to focus on what matters and to put my goals into action.

As Jim Akers states, we are each running towards our finish line. I want to make sure my path is cleared and that I am focused on my prize. I am determined to break that tape and achieve what matters.

Do you have clarity and can you visualize what you are running towards?

I definitely know what you mean. I have to constantly remind myself how we were all made differently and have different gifts, even though some days I wished I had someone else’s skills. :)
