My Pregnancy :: First Trimester Overview

I can’t believe Baby C will be here in less than 20 days! It feels like I have been pregnant for an eternity, yet it feels like I should still have at least 3 more months to prepare for his arrival… But alas, the end is near. The past few days I’ve been reading over my journal from the past few months and relishing these last couple weeks of carrying Baby C. It has been such a bitter-sweet season of life and I could not be more thankful to have had this experience.

I’ve received so many messages and questions during my pregnancy and am an open book, so I wanted to share some insight into each trimester for you all. Over the next couple of weeks I’ll be sharing trimester overviews and then a general pregnancy overview of questions I’ve received. If you have any other questions, please feel free to message me or comment below! Here is our first trimester overview!

First Trimester Highs:

  • Watching Caleb learn he was going to be a dad. While I was shocked and terrified to learn I was pregnant {we knew we wanted a baby in 2018, but I was still in complete shock when I saw those two lines}, Caleb was beyond excited immediately. Caleb’s joy was contagious.
  • Hearing the heartbeat. The whole thing didn’t seem real to me until we heard Baby C’s little heartbeat for the first time. It was such a humbling experience to realize there was another life inside of me.

First Trimester Lows:

  • Morning sickness. Whoever decided to name it morning sickness was just mean. My morning sickness hit hard and lasted all day long. Praise the Lord for pregnancy safe prescriptions!
  • Exhaustion. I’m fairly certain I napped every day. I was SO tired.

First Trimester Necessities:

  • Prenatal Vitamins. After hours of research, I chose these prenatal vitamins. They had the best ingredients and the most nutrients for baby. If you are looking for the perfect prenatal vitamins, look no further. These are the best.
  • Morning sickness tea. I literally made a pot of it every day. And it does count towards your water intake. It’s not as good as pure water, but it does help hydrate you.
  • Morning sickness drops. I had one every few hours to help keep my stomach at ease.
  • Weekly bump picture dress. You can always choose not to use a photo, but you can’t go back in time and retake a photo. If you are pregnant, go buy this dress {it’s $24} and use the timer on your phone to take your weekly bump pictures. And if you’re already pregnant and haven’t started yet, don’t worry- it’s better late than never! I created a shared album with my family to share weekly bump pictures and sonograms since we are all literally coast to coast. It’s a fun way to keep everyone updated.
  • Diclegis. My prescription for morning sickness.

First Trimester Cravings:

  • Kraft mac n’cheese. Pretty sure I ate this 3-4 times a week.
  • Chocolate milk. I don’t even use milk when I cook, I exclusively use almond milk- but I was constantly craving chocolate milk and almond chocolate milk just didn’t cut it.
