First Trimester Overview :: Second Pregnancy

{i didn’t have a bump in the first trimester, so these photos are from later on in the pregnancy}

So this 1st trimester review is a tad late, but better late than never right? I received a lot of the same questions throughout this pregnancy as I did the last, so I’m sharing the answers in a quick first trimester overview! AND below I also share a video of how I told Caleb we’re pregnant!

First Trimester Highs:

  • Telling Caleb & Cayson about the baby and hearing Cayson say the word baby on repeat! Although, when you ask Cayson where the baby is- he still says ‘me’ and points to himself ha
  • Hearing the heartbeat. We found out we were pregnant in February, before the pandemic. So Caleb was able to go to the first appointment with me. I’ll cherish that first appointment, since it’s likely the only one he will get to go with me to thanks to our new normal…

First Trimester Lows:

  • Morning sickness. Literally all day…
  • Exhaustion. The upside of the pandemic was having Caleb home during the first trimester. So when I was either to sick to function or sleeping Caleb balanced work and Cayson. He was super dad!

First Trimester Necessities:

  • Prenatal Vitamins. While I loved the vitamins I took with Cayson, the company was bought out and ingredients were changed. Luckily I found this brand and LOVE them. They are pricy, but you can’t put a price tag on a healthy baby.
  • Morning sickness tea. I literally made a pot of it every day. And it does count towards your water intake. It’s not as good as pure water, but it does help hydrate you.
  • Morning sickness drops. I had one every few hours to help keep my stomach at ease.
  • B6 vitamins & Unisom. I took 75 mg of B6 vitamins and one Unisom eery night (per my doctors orders) for morning sickness. For some reason my insurance decided not to cover Diclegis this time.

First Trimester Cravings:

  • Peanut Butter. I lived on peanut butter crackers and peanut butter on apples.
  • Strawberry Kiwi Propel. Water literally repulsed me and propel was the only drink I could keep down.
  • Pineapple. Pineapple helps with nausea, so fresh pineapple was one of my go-tos.

I’m glad that while it’s been an unusual and maybe slightly confusing or challenging time for a pregnancy, that your overall experience has been on the good side. I’m sure it’s been special having your little one get excited about a little sibling, and having your husband home sometimes is probably really comforting as well! I hope things are only good from here on out!

This is interesting to read about! I’ve never had a baby and I’m the oldest in my family and no one else close to me is pregnant (yet) so I’m so clueless about pregnancy in general. It’s good to hear that your experience has been a positive one!

I’m not a mom yet, but I’m so glad there are a few things that help with morning sickness. When I hear about other women talking about it, it’s definitely touch!

Congratulations! I’m sure this is all so exciting even though we are going through a weird year. I also loved the pregnancy announcement video.
P.S. I had “morning sickness” for my entire 2nd pregnancy. I was given medicine to help bc I couldn’t keep any food down. It sucked.

Congrats!! Nausea is the absolute worst…it completely knocks you down. Hope you have a morning sickness-free second trimester!
