“Go where you feel most alive.”
unknown
Earlier this year I announced that Caleb & I have begun talking about starting our family and immediately questions began rolling in. Are we going to move out of NYC? Are we nervous about the idea of starting our family in the city? When will we start trying? The questions went on and on… Strangely enough, I’ve dreamed of raising a family in NYC since the first time I ever visited this glorious city in 8th grade. Odd, I’m aware- but it just feels right for us.
New York City is a vibrant city with a personality of its own. Something about the fast pace, cultural diversity, travel opportunities, plethora of museums and options galore appeals to me. Am I nervous about starting our family in a 1 bedroom apartment? Absolutely. But I’ve learned that the smaller the space, the less “stuff” you can have- and therefore, the fewer distractions from what matters. We don’t have weekend house-to-do lists and a yard to maintain. We’ve chosen to have a smaller space, but more freedom of our time.
Growing up I learned I feel most alive when I am traveling, out of my comfort zone or am trying something new. New York City is a place that helps make me come alive. It inspires me & pushes me. No two days are the exact same. While living in NYC is challenging, it is an adventure at the same time. So will we move when we start our family? I really don’t think so. At least the idea of moving is no where on my radar {unless we were moving to Paris, I could handle moving to Paris ;) }. We plan on staying right here, where we feel alive.
What makes you feel alive?

Love this! So WHEN are you two thinking of starting your family? ;) And I feel most alive when I am at the beach or watching a sunset. They both just wake up my soul!
I totally agree with you on preferring and apartment to a house. I current;y have a house and miss being in a smaller less maintenance space. My weekends are sometimes filled with cleaning the house & I’d much rather be enjoying my time. The upkeep of a house is no joke!
This is such a great post! I definitely feel most alive when I am traveling or when I feel most like myself, if that makes sense! ;)
Love this! Definitely wrestling through these questions in this season of my life!
I love this post Chloe! I think I feel most alive when I’m creating something. When I throw myself into a big project.
I love this post! Thank you so much for sharing! I feel most alive when I’m in South Carolina with my hubby!
It’s so amazing when a place can be so inspiring and make you feel so alive!
