That sweet little 4 letter word still makes my heart sing- love. Love has become a very common theme in my life. While I definitely have learned a lot about love through being a wife, I have learned even more about it since coming to the Institute. (Both in and out of marriage). Over the past month I have come to realize just how important love is. Loving God and loving others is really what life is about.
As I mentioned before, Caleb and I are going through a one year devotion for couples (which I highly recommend for any married couple). Today I cannot help but think about part of the first days devotion:
As humans, when most of us (including myself) think about love we think about a tangible spouse, family member or boyfriend/girlfriend. But today I have been convicted that this devotional also applies to our relationship with God. We all understand that we are called to love God and to know God. But what does that look like?
In order to grow in our relationship with those around us we are intentional about spending time with them, getting to know them, doing activities with them and talking with them. Your relationship with God needs the same work. So, will you embrace a life of love?
“I run straight to the goal with purpose in every step.”
1 Corinthians 9:26.
“My child, pay attention to what I say. Listen carefully to my words. Don’t lose sight of them; let them penetrate deep into your heart, for they bring life to those who find them and healing to their whole body”
Proverbs 4:20-22
Oh my goodness, y’all need to read Love Does by Bob Goff! I know you are studying all kinds of things right now and probably don’t need another book to your list, but you should definitely consider it when the studying slows down – it’s amazing!
After reading your posts it is actually on my list of next books to read! Thanks for the recommendation!
