Love Never Fails

Love is hard.  Okay, if you’ve read any of my posts recently this statement may sound strange. My husband and I just celebrated our one year anniversary and love has been overflowing in abundance between the two of us. Loving my husband is easy. That is not the kind of love I am talking about. It’s loving the ‘difficult to love’ person that is hard. Can I read the list below and say I measure up to each one? Not even close.

Love is patient
love is kind
It does not envy
it does not boast
it is not proud
It does not dishonor others
it is not self-seeking
it is not easily angered
it keeps no record of wrongs
Love does not delight in evil
but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects
always trusts
always hopes
always perseveres
Love never fails.

If we are called to love like Jesus loved, we need to look like this.  I love 1 Peter 4:8 “Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.” If we can get 1 Corinthians 13 down, think of how many sins we just said goodbye to.

Today let’s make it our goal to love well.
