Have you ever heard the story of the three bricklayers? It’s a classic story and the perfect reminder as we start our workweek.
When asked, “What are you doing?” the first bricklayer replied, “Laying bricks.” The second answered, “Making $9.30 an hour.” And the third responded, “Me? Why I am building the world’s greatest cathedral.”
The story doesn’t tell us what happened to these bricklayers in the years to come, but I bet we can guess. Chances are, the first two are still bricklayers. They lacked vision and couldn’t see themselves in the bigger picture. But I bet the third bricklayer had big goals and dreams- he saw the big picture. I imagine he went on to do grand things and created a beautiful legacy.
We are each a product of our own thoughts. I truly believe if we dream big, we will grow big- if we dream small, we will grow small. The size of our success is determined by the size of our belief. {tweet that} We need to start thinking big.
How big is your belief? How big are your dreams?
Are you simply laying bricks or are you building a great cathedral?
The choice is yours.
I haven’t heard this story before, but I really like it! Love the simplicity. I think I tend to be most like the first answer, but I want to be like the third. :)
Fun! I love this!
