My Pregnancy :: Second Trimester Overview

As my pregnancy is nearing its end, I’ve been reminiscing over the past few months and decided to share an overview of each trimester with each of you! I shared my first trimester overview here and today, I’m sharing my second trimester overview!

Second Trimester Highs:

  • Feeling Baby C kick. I started feeling “flutters” a little earlier than most people do and felt legit kicks early too. It was so fun to have those little reminders of his presence during the day!
  • Caleb feeling him kick. Caleb was able to feel Baby C around week 16- which is crazy early!
  • Getting my energy back. In the second trimester I was finally able to drop my daily nap and started attending yoga classes. The second trimester is definitely the best!

Second Trimester Lows:

  • Morning sickness. Unfortunately, I am one of the lucky few who got to hold on to their morning sickness long after the first trimester… Morning sickness stuck with me the entire second trimester.
  • Sciatic nerve issues. Baby C is sitting near my sciatic nerve, so in the second trimester I had to give up sleeping on my left side because it causes him to lay directly on it. One night he was causing so much pain I actually ended up getting sick and spending the evening in the hospital… Not fun.

Second Trimester Necessities:

  • Pregnancy pillow. This pillow is literally life changing. Note to future self- buy this pillow again the moment you find out you are pregnant. It is so so worth it!
  • Morning sickness tea. I’ve continued making a pot of this tea every day.
  • Collagen Peptides. My doctor gave the okay to add collagen peptides back into my diet in the second trimester. It’s supposed to help with skin elasticity and thus far, I have no stretch marks- whether it’s related or not I am unsure, but it also adds a punch of protein to my morning.
  • Belly moisturizer. I’ve been using a few different moisturizers on my belly during this pregnancy, but mostly stick to this one. Again, I have no stretch marks thus far but am unsure if that is due to genetics, moisturizers, or the collagen peptides.
  • Diclegis. I continued taking this morning sickness prescription throughout the second trimester.
  • Maternity leggings. I’ve been living in these leggings & these leggings I bought on Amazon. I bought smalls {my normal size} in both pairs.
  • Maternity pants. These black skinny jeans are my favorite and are on sale for $18! I literally wear them 3 times a week.
  • Maternity dresses. I’m loving Shop Pink Blush, Bae the Label {love their count your blessings skirt too} and H&M.

Second Trimester Cravings:

  • Water. I am constantly thirsty!! When I get tired of normal water, I would grab a lemon Spindrift or grapefruit Spindrift to spice things up a bit. And sparkling water counts towards your water intake! Yay!
  • Burgers. I think my body just needed more iron, so I’ve been craving a burger a week. I’m not a huge meat eater, so this was somewhat odd for me- but not too crazy.

What do you think would be your pregnancy craving?
