A Life & Pregnancy Update

Pregnancy Update

Well, it has been a while since I gave you all a general life and pregnancy update! Things have been crazy busy over here and it doesn’t look like they will be slowing down anytime soon. We found out we were pregnant in July and since then I’ve travelled to 7 states {literally 21 flights… including two separate trips cross country to both Pheonix and California and 3 separate trips to Branson, Missouri}. Luckily I’ve had almost a full month of staying put in NYC before we prepare to head out to Israel for 12 days with my family and then Paris for a 5 day babymoon! {Be sure to follow along on instagram!} After that I will be staying put in New York City {or the surrounding areas} until bébé arrives!

For now, I wanted to give you all a general overview of how my pregnancy has been thus far. I haven’t really shared too much about the pregnancy since I made the initial announcement because quite frankly, pregnancy has been rough on me physically. But I could not be more thankful to have had this experience and am beyond blessed to have had the chance to carry our little guy for the past 7 months. {p.s. did you know you are technically pregnant for 10 months, not 9? Last week my doctor informed us that we were about to enter the third trimester and 7th month of pregnancy… Where has the time gone?!}

Stay tuned for a full blog post all about this pregnancy- from how I found out I was pregnant, how I told Caleb we were pregnant, how long it took us to get pregnant and more! Until then, here is a basic breakdown of a few questions I am asked the most via social media!

First Trimester

Best Part of 1st Trimester: Watching Caleb learn he was going to be a father. To say he was thrilled would be an understatement. The joy he exuded was absolutely contagious and so so sweet.  And of course, hearing the heart beat for the first time! I was so shocked when I learned I was pregnant that the whole thing didn’t seem real to me until we heard the heart beat. And again, thinking back to Caleb’s pure joy when he heard the heart beat for the first time while holding my hand still melts my heart.

Worst Part of 1st Trimester: Morning sickness. Seriously, the struggle is real. Morning sickness came in fast and strong. Luckily my doctor gave me a prescription to help. I was also exhausted all the time. I’m fairly certain I took a nap almost every day.

Favorite Items in 1st Trimester: My morning sickness prescription {Diclegis}, these morning sickness drops, and this morning sickness tea.  I also did a TON of research and decided to take this prenatal vitamin. It won HANDS DOWN against the other options! If you are looking for a prenatal- look no further. And chocolate milk and shapes Kraft mac n’cheese were some of the only things I could keep down.

Second Trimester

Best Part of 2nd Trimester: Feeling our bébé kick and having Caleb feel him kick! I love staying in bed an extra few minutes each morning just to enjoy spending time praying over him and feeling him kick. It’s so funny watching my stomach literally wiggle around as he squirms.

Worst Part of 2nd Trimester: The morning sickness continues. I was convinced my morning sickness would leave in the second trimester and then clung to the hope that it would depart by week 20… But, no such luck. I tried getting off my prescription 3 times and it knocked me off my feet each time. The doctor swears the prescription isn’t bad for the baby and insists I just stay on it so I can keep food down and keep nutrients in my body. I also ended up in the hospital one night due to him sitting on my sciatic nerve. I was literally getting sick because I was in so much pain. He has since readjusted and I am praying I never experience that again.

Favorite Items in 2nd Trimester: This pregnancy pillow is literally life changing!! I’ve always been a back sleeper {which is a big no-no during pregnancy} and was beginning to have a hard time sleeping. Then my girlfriends recommended I get a pregnancy pillow and now I could cuddle up in med all day! I’m also drinking lemon Spindrift & grapefruit Spindrift when I get bored of regular water and am still drinking my morning sickness tea {even when I don’t feel sick I make a pot of tea just to keep me hydrated and switch it up a bit from water}. My doctor also gave me the okay to add this collagen peptide back into my diet, so I add it to my morning decaf coffee. I also purchased this pair {buy your normal size} and this pair {they run a tad big & I would order a second pair in xs if they had it, but for the price I would purchase the small again} of maternity leggings on Amazon.

Also loving my tweed jacket with pearl detailing. It is under $40, is real tweed and instantly changes my go-to all black ensemble. It’s NOT a maternity jacket, but hides the bump pretty well- don’t you think? I ordered a small, just for reference.
