Anyone else think it officially feels like January? The hustle and bustle of the holidays is over, the winter weather is really setting in, and life is getting quiet. While we are still working towards our goals, life seems to be in a waiting period. Waiting for spring, waiting for answers, waiting for change. As an individual who loves the sound of birds chirping and the hustle and bustle of big cities, this time of year drags on a bit too long for me. Especially as we are waiting to check of this next step towards our big change. {this is easily the step i am most excited about- more on that soon}.
In this time of waiting He is teaching. I’m being reminded that we have to be faithful. It is easy to remember that we must be faithful when jumping off cliffs or making life changing decisions. But it is also easy to forget to be faithful in the day to day. He is reminding me to concentrate on His presence- here & now. He is reminding me that He is shining down on me as I take each step and as I work with each of my coworkers. He wants to walk through life with me. He wants each of my tasks {even the mundane ones} to reflect Him. He designed me to be dependent on Him- moment by moment.
So I’m learning to be thankful in these quiet days, when nothing special seems to be happening. Because something special is happening. He is using us to bless others. He is preparing us for His glorious plans ahead. He is working in us, molding us to be all that we can be. Instead of allowing myself to be bored in this time, I want to intentionally pursue Him and walk with Him in all that I do. Because He does have special plans ahead. Plans we cannot even fathom.
What are some of your favorite things to do this time of the year?
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men.- Colossians 3:23
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose. – Romans 8:28
Look to the Lord and His strength; seek His face always. – Psalm 105:4
Such a good reminder! Dates inside like paint ball, bowling, art center. Some days I will go to the mall just to get extra walking in since its so cold. The key is to window shop only ;) Have some friends over for dinner or go out to dinner with them.
Really needed this. I’m so over the cold and have been in a ‘stump’ recently. Thanks for the reminder!
I can SOOOO relate to this! Right now we are waiting for our adoption referral. We were told it would happen sometime this year, which is very vague and so many things in our lives are on hold until it happens. While I’m not always good at the waiting period, I am excited for what lies ahead!
