Thailand Coup

Hello all! Just wanted to share a quick update with you all. We are officially in a coup here in Thailand. If you are like me and don’t know what a coup is, a coup is an overthrowing of the government. In our case, the military has overthrown the government. In my opinion this sounds scary- praise the Lord we serve a great God. But thus far everything has been fine here in Nakhon Si Thammarat. We live in a city with a big military base so it is not too unusual to see them out on the street.

We have heard all types of rumors about what this coup may entail. As of right now we know that all schools are cancelled and that we have a country wide curfew of 22:00-05:00 (aka 10pm-5am). We also know that all Thai news stations are blocked. There is also a potential for all social media and, big gulp, all internet to be blocked. Only time will tell.

Until then, please pray for our new home country, for peace, for safety, and for resolutions. {and selfishly, for internet so we can keep in touch with family & friends} If you don’t see another post on here for more than 4 days, you can assume internet is out. Hoping this time out of school can be used to build relationships- possibly while at the beach! ;)
