As it is the new year, I have found myself reminiscing through some of the highlights of 2011. While the Lord has blessed me in more ways than I deserve, I think the greatest blessing He has given me this past year is the gift of fellowship. This past year the Lord has surrounded me with some of the most encouraging friends, family and fiancé. Between Caleb, my women’s Bible study, my roommates, my friends and my family I am surrounded by some of the most uplifting, joyful, wonderful people. Although I had recognized this blessing before, for some reason on January 1 I was overwhelmed with thanks for this gift.
Also on January 1 I began reading through 1 Corinthians. While reading through chapter one verse four really stuck out to me. Paul states that he
“always thank[s] God”
for the other believers who surround him. It is easy to remember to give thanks for physical gifts or answered prays, but so often I take for granted the little things- like the fellowship and encouragement I receive from my friendships.
Thank you for a wonderful 2011!
” 4 I always thank God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus. 5 For in him you have been enriched in every way—in all your speaking and in all your knowledge— 6 because our testimony about Christ was confirmed in you. 7 Therefore you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed. 8 He will keep you strong to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 God, who has called you into fellowship with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, is faithful.” -1 Corinthians 1:4-9
