My Pregnancy :: Third Trimester Overview

We are literally DAYS away from meeting Baby C!! WHAT?! {if he even makes it to Thursday} Over the past couple of weeks I’ve shared details about my first trimester and second trimester and today I’m sharing my third trimester overview! It has been so sweet {and difficult} carrying Baby C for the past 9 months, but I cannot wait to hold him in my arms!!

Third Trimester Highs:

  • Loving my bump! I didn’t really get a proper bump until about week 28 or 29. But since then he has been growing like a weed and I’m loving FINALLY having a bump and showing it off! For the first time someone actually tried to offer their seat to me while waiting at a restaurant, which just made me giddy! I didn’t need the seat, but was excited that others were finally noticing my big ole’ belly!
  • Feeling great. Mostly… I’ve had great energy, normal appetite & clear skin. {until about week 36, then I just got uncomfortable all the time… and I’m hungry all the time… but let’s just focus on the good half of the third trimester}

Third Trimester Lows:

  • Morning sickness. Yep, still here…
  • Bloating. My feet, legs & face are bloating like crazy. My jaw line is completely gone… Hellooooo double chin! I was so excited to be carrying in just my belly the whole pregnancy, but now I’m carrying EVERYWHERE!  {I should preface, these photos were taken in my third trimester BEFORE the bloating became full force}
  • Weight gain. Between the bloating, huge appetite & sweets cravings I’ve gained so much weight this trimester- specifically from week 35-39. I had been pretty consistent and proud of my weight gain until month 9. Now it feels like I gain 5 pounds a day {exaggerating- kind of…}
  • Breakouts. My skin has been pretty normal until about week 38. I normally don’t get bad breakouts- maybe one or two here and there, but I’ve never been one to wear foundation. Now, my skin is a blotchy mess. Yay! ha

Third Trimester Necessities:

  • Dates. It could be an old wives tale, but it doesn’t hurt! I started eating 6 dates a day at week 36. It’s supposed to help with labor and effacing? These are unsweetened and I love them. My mom was 2 weeks late with me and was then induced and my brother was induced on his due date, so I knew I wanted to do anything possible to make Baby C come on his own.
  • Raspberry leaf tea. I started drinking this tea at week 36 too. Again, it’s supposed to help with labor? Figured I might as well give it a shot since I love drinking tea anyways.
  • Pregnancy pillow. I literally don’t know how I would get any sleep without this pillow. An absolute MUST HAVE!!!
  • Morning sickness tea. I’m still having a pot a day.
  • Collagen Peptides. I add one scoop of this to my decaf coffee each morning. It’s supposed to help with skin elasticity and thus far, I still don’t have any stretch marks. Again, it could be genetics- but I also like know it adds a punch of protein to my morning.
  • Belly moisturizer. I’m now using this moisturizer and still no stretch marks. I will continue using it after Baby C is born too- I love how it feels on my skin!
  • Diclegis. Still on my morning sickness prescription.
  • Maternity leggings. I’m still living in these leggings & these leggings I bought on Amazon. I bought smalls {my normal size} in both pairs and they have continued fitting well this entire pregnancy.
  • Maternity pants. These black skinny jeans are my favorite and are on sale for $18! I literally wear them 3 times a week. The band is getting a tad tight around my belly, but they are still my go to.
  • Maternity dresses. It has been too chilly for dresses recently, but my go-to’s are still Shop Pink Blush, Bae the Label {love their count your blessings skirt too} and H&M.

Third Trimester Cravings:

  • Water. I literally cannot get enough water during the day. It’s nonstop. Caleb keeps buying my favorite Spindrifts and I’ve also been ordering La Croix & these sparkling Dasani waters in bulk on Amazon.
  • Ice cream. I should be embarrassed to admit how much mint chocolate chip ice cream I’ve had in the past month… This craving is definitely to blame for my serious weight gain this trimester. Oops.

What do you think would be your pregnancy craving?

    Hang in there – homestretch, mama!! I gained SO much weight during both pregnancies and both times waited a full six weeks before working out (had 2 c-sections) and for some reason I think waiting til then took some of the pressure off and just let me focus on the babies. So then after the six weeks, I was not only ready physically, but mentally too and didn’t have a lot of trouble losing the weight. You’re going to be awesome!!
