What to do in Amsterdam

If Amsterdam isn’t on your bucket list yet, add it now! Between the houseboats, bicycles, colorful {tilted} old homes, hundreds of canals, beautiful flowers and vibrant people- there is always something to do or see in Amsterdam. Below you will find an overview of all my tips, suggestions & recommendations of what to do in Amsterdam!

Itinerary

  • Rather than setting an itinerary for you, I recommend using my top suggestions list and deciding what to do each day depending on your weather!

Airport/Train Stations

  • Amsterdam Airport Schiphol AMS (airport)
  • Amsterdam Centraal Station (train)

Hotel

Restaurants

Transportation

  • Tram {very easy to use and it is included if you buy the i amsterdam card}
  • Boat {one boat ride is included in the i amsterdam card}
  • Uber
  • Bike
  • Walk

Other

Recommendations

  • Book your Anne Frank House tour tickets 2 months in advance! They sell out within an hour of tickets being released, so bookmark your calendar so you can visit!
  • I recommend visiting in late Spring or Summer so you can see the flowers in full bloom and you won’t freeze on your bike!
  • Look both ways any time you cross the street- bikes are EVERYWHERE!!!
  • Try the local cheeses- they come in all different shapes, sizes & colors {literally pink, green, blue and more…}
  • Please note- coffeeshops & coffee shops are NOT the same thing… Go to a coffee shop for actual coffee & a coffeeshop for cannabis
  • Not all tulips can be brought back to your home country. Check the labels before you buy any bulbs!

    What a lovely list! I would suggest booking for all the museums so you can avoid the long lines – the Rijks is a great one as is the modern art museum! It took me ages to learn to look both ways on the bike lane but these are all lovely suggestions!

    I enjoyed watching your video. The stroopwafels look delicious. I do not mind that they are kinda messy because of the chocolate. The INK Hotel looks modern and chic. I love the variety of flowers too. I would love to visit the Anne Frank House. It was nice that you mentioned about booking two months in advance.

    Wonderful video of Amsterdam, you had the same weather I did when I visited. You captured the feel of the city in your video, all the bikes, canals and unique buildings! That’s a useful tip about buying tickets in advance to the Anne Frank House.
