For those of you who may not know, I was born in Newport Beach, California and everyone on my mom’s side of the family still live in the Golden State. While I would love to visit more often, we still make it out about once a year. These are a few of my recommendations for Newport Beach and the general surrounding area!
Itinerary:
{Rather than sharing a traditional itinerary, I’m just recommending you spend at least 3 days here! My overall top recommendations on what to do are below!}
Airport:
- LAX
- John Wayne
Hotel:
- HomeAway {almost always my preference when traveling! I personally like staying on Peninsula Point in Newport Beach}
- Waterfront Beach Hilton
Restaurants:
- Ruby’s Shake Shack on the Pier {a burger and a shake are a MUST! I always get a kids double dark chocolate shake or the coffee shake}
- The Stuft Surfer {the BEST breakfast spot on the beach}
- Mama D’s Italian
- The Beachcomber Cafe
- The Rusty Pelican
- The Crab Cooker {this restaurant often has a long line and does not take reservations. The even made President Nixon wait in line with everyone else while he was president!}
- Wild Taco
Surf Shops:
Transportation:
- I highly recommend renting a car
- Bicycle
My top recommendations:
- Rent a Duffy Boat on the harbor
- Ride bikes up and down the boardwalk
- Soak up sun on the beach
- Swim/boogie board/surf
- Make s’mores on the beach {there are some fire pits set up on the beach- tip, use dark chocolate instead of milk chocolate}
- Watch surfers by the Wedge
- Take the ferry over to Balboa Island & have a Balboa Bar
