Can you believe Cayson has officially been here for 3 weeks? I am completely befuddled by how quickly the time has passed and how big my sweet Baby C has grown! Prior to Cayson’s birth, I spent so much time preparing for his time at home, the actual birth process and my time in the hospital, that I really didn’t give too much thought to my recovery postpartum. I know each persons labor/delivery experience is different- but for me the hardest part for me physically was actually the first week after Cayson was born. I was in serious pain and wish I had better prepared for my postpartum recovery.
I’ll be sharing my labor story soon {with a vlog too… and there were 2 things that happened that I NEVER could have guessed would happen}, but in the meantime I want to share with you all a few items I HIGHLY recommend you purchase if you are pregnant and will be delivering soon. This is what you really need postpartum. I also updated my hospital bag post to reflect what I ACTUALLY used at the hospital.
Take home from the hospital {most hospitals will give these to you upon request}
- Postpartum cold packs
- Water squirt/sprayer bottle
- hospital underwear {I liked to switch between the adult diapers I purchased and these}
- hospital pads {I liked to switch between the adult diapers I purchased and these}
Buy for home
- Donut Pillow :: My mom kept telling me how life changing her donut pillow was postpartum, but because I hadn’t seen anyone else using them on blogs or online I just kind of wrote it off. Don’t make my mistake. This pillow is LIFE CHANGING!!! I am still sitting on it as I write this. It helps make you more comfortable if you tore or got hemorrhoids.
- Postpartum cold packs :: I bought extras because they made me feel so much better! I still use them occasionally at 3 weeks postpartum.
- Stretchy pants :: For the first few days I couldn’t dream of putting on fitted pants and lived in these oversized pants.
- Nursing bras :: I love these and I sized up and got a medium- I’m a 32D pre-pregnancy just for reference.
- Nursing pads :: I leak a lot still, so these are a necessity.
- Nursing tanks :: I love these and bought them in my true size- a small.
- Adult diapers :: Embarrassing to admit, but so useful.
- Colace :: Take 2 a day for at least the first week. Trust me, you will thank me later.
