10 prayers to wedding BBB

Today marks the last day that we Caleb and I are in the double digits. 10 days from today our “Happily Ever After” begins!

I just learned that earlier this morning my father sent out an email to a handful of friends and family members.  This email is a “10 Days of Prayer for the Bride & Groom” that he created. I was so touched and loved it so much that I wanted to share it with each of you. It is a wonderful guide for everyone to use- not only for Caleb & I, but also for every bride & groom you know. I will share todays specific prayer followed by my fathers email and his full 10 days. I will also repost each days prayer as the countdown continues. I am a firm believer that prayer changes things. So thank you in advance for making an impact in our marriage! Caleb & I appreciate the countless prayers and love that has been poured out onto us over the past two years! My heart overflows with extreme gratitude for each of your love, encouragement and prayers!

Day 1       Love is the Key

1 Corinthians 13:13 “Now these three remain: faith, hope, and love.  But the greatest of these is love.”

Pray for Love to remain the fundamental key to success in Chloé and Caleb’s marriage.  Pray for a marriage built on honesty, respect, commitment, forgiveness and endurance.  May love inspire all these things to grow in their marriage.

The email from my father:

Good afternoon all,

As Chloe and Caleb prepare to exchange vows next week I was drawn to a devotional Valerie and I received as a gift a while back.  It is called the Love Dare and it is filled with Biblical Truths founded in Love for marriage.  I read through some of the scriptures and selected 10.  I want to share them with you in the hopes that we all can be praying for Chloe and Caleb together during the next 10 days as they prepare for the wedding.  Please feel free to share this with any prayer warriors that may want to join us in our prayer journey over the next 10 days.

Day 1       Love is the Key

1 Corinthians 13:13 “Now these three remain: faith, hope, and love.  But the greatest of these is love.”

Pray for Love to remain the fundamental key to success in Chloe and Caleb’s marriage.  Pray for a marriage built on honesty, respect, commitment, forgiveness and endurance.  May love inspire all these things to grow in their marriage.

Day 2      Love is Fertile Soil

Ephesians 3:17  “that you being rooted and grounded in love.”

Pray that Chloe and Caleb will provide safe, loving soil for each other to grow so they may flourish with confidence, knowing they are valued.  May their needs be met, dreams encouraged, opinions heard and successes praised so they may learn to express themselves honestly without fear of judgment.

Day 3     Love is best when God is first

Matthew 22:37  “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart.”

Pray for Chloe and Caleb to keep God the first and primary object of their affection.  If love is the greatest thing you can do, then loving God with all you are is the greatest expression you could ever make.  May the kids keep God #1 in their marriage.

Day 4      Love brings Completeness

Genesis 2:24  “A man leaves his father and mother and bonds with his wife, and they become one flesh.”

Pray that as Chloe and Caleb join together they would experience the mystery of matrimony where two come together and become one.   Though distinct in personality and ability, may they see that they are designed to experience oneness in their diversity.  May they become so intimately combined that together they live as one complete person with bonded hearts in marriage.

Day 5     Love is Fun

Ecclesiastes 9:9    “Enjoy life with the wife you love all the days of your fleeting life.”

Marriage was designed to bring delight.  The Bible says a man should rejoice in his wife and be “exhilarated always with her love”.  It says he should seek “how he may please his wife,” and she should seek “how she may please her husband”.   Pray that Chloe and Caleb find ways to enjoy one another’s lives together where a smile on one’s face will bring a smile to the others.

Day 6      Love causes Growth

Ephesians 5: 25-26 “Husbands, love your wives, just as also Christ loved the church and gave Himself for her, to make her holy.”

Pray that Chloe and Caleb will have a marriage where they will refine and strengthen each other.  When one or the other reveals a flaw or weakness in character, pray that their first reaction will be to listen and learn helping each other to be more complete and Christlike.

Day 7       Love is Patient

Ephesians 4:2   “Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.”

Pray that Chloe and Caleb will develop patience in their marriage that brings an internal calm during an external storm.  May they control their emotions “bearing with one another in love.”

Day 8      Love Listens

James 1:19     “Understand this; everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger.”

Pray that Chloe and Caleb will communicate with each other in a way that reflects their heart.  May they listen patiently and let love lead.

Day 9    Love believes the Best

1 Corinthians 13:7     “Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.”

Pray that Chloe and Caleb will be positive and encouraging to one another showing appreciation for one another.

Day 10   Love thinks Positively

Philippians 4:8   “If there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.”

Pray that Chloe and Caleb will let love lead their thoughts, to focus on the things they love most about each other, “whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, may they focus on those attributes of each other.

Thank you for lifting up Chloe and Caleb in prayer with us.  We look so forward to seeing everyone at the wedding.

Robert & Valerie

It is ironic how I was making a binder today about weddings; vows, preparation for, prayers for, etc. that the clergy would be taking with them as guidance to weddings…..somehow (Holy Spirit) it touches me that I know that I am meant to include this…may I? It is so beautiful, and heartfelt. It is also interesting how you liked the blog “beautiful heroic girl” because you actually look like one….It takes one to know one :) How blessed is this day…thanks!-Loretta

Somehow I stumbled upon this blog post and I just love it! I am getting married in 2 months and have been keeping a prayer journal for my fiancé to give as a gift on our wedding day. I love the idea of including everyone to pray for the bride & bridegroom throughout the week- what a powerful support learning up one of the most important days of your life! Thanks for sharing even though I’m about a year late :)

Chloe, I would also like permission to use this for our daughters wedding September 24, 2016. I would like to put it in the form of a book with pictures of them. I would be happy to list you and your dad with the credit. The book would just be given to the bride and groom, and the emails sent to their families. Would this be possible?

Absolutely Susan! That would be such a sweet gift! It was incredible walking down the aisle knowing I was surrounded by so many people who had been covering us in prayer the 10 days leading to the wedding.

No need to add credit, but thank you for offering! Just lifted your daughter, fiancé and family up in prayer!

    Good morning Chloe,

What a beautiful sentiment; I’m giving my daughter and son in law their family Bible including a personalized copy of the prayers. I am also posting it on FB for family and friends to participate in the prayers. I hope I have permission from your father to do so. Nothing has lifted our family through sorrow and tribulations like prayers have and this makes it so much more special to share it in celebrating their marriage. Thank you! Mirta Fowler
