10 Ways to Reset After Traveling

Few things inspire me like travel! But as much as I love to explore new places and create memories, I also love coming home and settling back into my routine. Here are 10 ways I reset after traveling.

  1. Hydrate: Traveling is incredibly dehydrating! When traveling I’m less intentional about my diet and water is often an afterthought. And flying in itself is dehydrating. So when I travel I always pack a handful of these in my bag. They are my go to on flights, after a few glasses of wine or on days I’ve just forgotten to drink enough water. Staying hydrated helps your body functioning at its best. So I highly recommend stocking up on a few of these.
  2. Stretch and exercise: Getting back into a regular exercise routine can help you feel revitalized and energized after travel. I like to start my day by stretching. Few things make me more sore than sitting on an airplane for hours.
  3. Unpack and organize: Anyone else delay unpacking? I love packing my bags, but unpacking just isn’t my thing. But few things help you feel more settled and ready to tackle the week ahead than a clean space.
  4. Treat yourself: Whether it’s a spa day or a pot of tea, treating yourself to something you love can help lift your mood and reset your mindset. I personally love making a pot of this tea and using this face mask. This mask helps pull out all the impurities and detoxes your skin from toxins from travel.
  5. Connect with loved ones: Catching up with friends and family can help you feel grounded and supported after being away from home.
  6. Reflect on your travels: Take some time to reflect on your trip and write down your favorite memories and experiences. This can help you hold onto the positive feelings of travel long after the trip is over. I love creating photo books of my trips- especially when traveling with others. They make great gifts too!
  7. Get back into a routine: Returning to your regular routine can help you get back on track and feel more productive and focused. Jetlag is real, but do your best to jump back on your timezone ASAP.
  8. Get outside: Fresh air can do a world of good for your body. After a trip, I love to walk barefoot in the grass or sand while soaking up some fresh air.
  9. Catch up on sleep: After long flights and busy itineraries, a good night’s sleep is essential for restoring your energy levels and resetting your body clock. I really enjoy these gummies for a little extra assistance.
  10. Plan your next adventure: Nothing resets your mind and spirit like planning your next travel adventure! Even if it’s just researching new destinations and activities, it can give you something to look forward to and inspire a sense of excitement. Anyone else love planning trips?!

BONUS :: Make your bed with fresh sheets BEFORE your trip so you return home to a freshly made bed! When traveling I desperately miss these sheets– I genuinely believe they are better than any 5 star hotel sheets. The code CHLOEBARNOLD40 still work for 40% off- if it doesn’t work, message them and they might re-activate it for you!

Yes! I love this list of 10 ways to reset after traveling. I completely agree with all of them, but the one thing that stands out is hydration. I always make sure that I’m well hydrated or find a plan on where I can get enough high-quality water while traveling. Dehydration is the number one thing that affects me.

I’m different from most people. I unpack everything immediately. I don’t want to deal with it later, so I go immediately to work on emptying my suitcase. I can then more easily put things behind me and return to normal.
