Sometimes we just need a little mood booster. As I shared previously, 2020 brought out a lot of ugly in me. So over the past few months I’ve read a lot about refocusing your mindset and natural ways to boost my mood. After much research, I learned these are the top 6 ways to boost your mood!
- Get outside :: Get outside and take a walk! Bonus points if you can take off your shoes and walk in grass! Just do your best to get some fresh air and sun! Also- science also shows you should walk with your head up and arms moving to get the most out of your walk!
- Exercise :: Even if you only have a few minutes- try doing 50 jumping jacks to get your blood flowing! Or try jump roping for 5 minutes! Bonus points if you get a little sweaty ‘glow!’
- Write down a list of things you are thankful for :: Take time to really recognize the things you are thankful for. Take it a step further and text or call 3 people you are thankful for and tell them! Sending a simple ‘hey, I’m thinking about you and am thankful for you’ text could brighten your day and theirs! {learn more benefits of this here}
- Think about your 3 favorite memories :: Reflect back to the best moments of your life! Think about them in detail- what did you hear, smell, see, feel?
- Smile :: There is science that smiling sends signals to your brain that lift your mood. So force that smile and fake it till you make it!
- Stimulate your senses :: Turn on some upbeat music or a positive podcast and either light a candle you love or grab an essential oil you love! I’m a big fan of Mallory Ervin’s Living Fully podcast & am currently loving the Ocean Tide & Sea Salt by Pura fragrance.
What would you add to your list?

Love these tips! I didn’t know forcing a smile could literally boost your mood. I just tried it and it really does make an impact!
Getting outside is what does it for me!
Yes to all of this! It’s so easy to be in a crumby mood! These help so much!
I always exercise when I can. Even a simple walk out in the sunlight with my dog does my body great. It’s vitamin D and we both get our exercise. Great list!
