One of my favorite parts of traveling used to be diving into the big, cozy hotel bed at the end of a busy day. Now, I actually love my own bed so much I genuinely miss it when we travel because even 5 star hotel beds just can’t compete with our bed at home. So if you want to learn how to make your bed feel like a 5 star hotel bed, here are my top tips!
Sheets :: Investing in good sheets is my number one priority. These sheets are literally the most comfortable sheets I’ve ever slept on. I’ve tried buying multiple dupes of it and none of them come even close. They are pricy, but so so so worth it. Oprah has actually included them in her top favorite products the past 4 years in a row. We recently upgraded our duvet cover to this matching cover and absolutely love it! The code CHLOEBARNOLD40 might still get you a 40% discount {I don’t make a profit on it, I just share this brand so often they gave me a discount code!}
Down or down alternative pillows :: A good pillow can make or break a bed for me. I love a nice, fluffy down pillow that my head melts into. If you do use a down pillow, I like to use a pillow protector to keep the feathers in place. I also highly recommend using silk or satin pillow covers.
A thick duvet :: I’ve tried dozens of duvets, and this is my favorite thick duvet comforter and this is my favorite light duvet comforter. The thick one has weight to it, but isn’t overly warm. If you want something lighter, this bamboo duvet comforter has the perfect temperature control and is incredibly cozy. In the summer in California we will use the lighter bamboo duvet exclusively, but in the winter I like a little more weight. {Cozy Earth also sells a silk comforter I have my eye on for later.} You can buy just about any duvet cover, but I highly recommend sticking to white since it is scientifically proven to reduce stress and invoke a sense of comfort. I realllllly love this duvet cover we just upgraded to, but this cover is under $100 and has great reviews! *again try CHLOEBARNOLD40 for a discount on Cozy Earth!
Mattress or Mattress Topper :: If you don’t want to replace your mattress, invest in a mattress topper. This one allows you to sink into bed and feels like a cozy hug when you lay down. {I like medium/soft beds that provide the necessary support but still feel like you’re sleeping on a cloud}.
Scent :: I love the soothing scent of lavender, so I usually keep a lavender scent in our bedroom Pura. I love this brand specifically because their scents are baby and animal safe. I also really love this brand!
If you want to a little extra bonus- these pjs are a dream! I have the short & pant versions! These are a cheaper alternative that I also own- just be sure to purchase the solid colors, the prints are cute but not nearly as soft.
This bamboo duvet comforter got my attention- I’ve never heard of this! I might have to buy one, I always run hot and buy bamboo clothing.
I love this so much! Next week we’re all about updating things – more so in the kitchen but I want to change the bed sheets into brand-new, out-of-the-packet ones! That always makes me feel like I’m staying in a swanky hotel! Or at least it does for about 5 seconds before the cats get on to them.
Now I want to make mu bed look like a 5-star hotel. I might need a new, white duvet cover. Thank you for sharing these tips!
I think investing in a mattress topper and good sheets is worth it. Making your bed is an important part of my routine. I feel unproductive when I don’t make my bed. It may not be like a 5-star hotel but now I can with these tips :)
I love hotel beds and the natural fresh fluff feeling. It might be time I upgrade my bedding- it’s been a while.
For me, the most important bedding is a good pillow and pillow case! That’s a make or break situation.
Mattress toppers are the best thing ever. I remember sleeping like a baby at grandma’s house, and now I look forward to bedtime every day because of the toppers. They really do make a difference.
Yes and yes to thicker sheets and a duvet! My sleep has to be the very best. Otherwise, I can’t even sleep for an hour.
The mattress one caught my eye. Will have to check out for it.
I remember seeing a bamboo comforter few months back and absolutely loved it. I should give in to my temptation and buy it.
