The Best Places to Find Christmas in NYC

Is there anything more magical than Christmas in NYC? It seems the whole city comes together to celebrate the season and there are a handful of places you definitely don’t want to miss! This is my 5th Christmas living in New York City and I’ve officially found all the places you must visit if you come to the city during this magical time of year!

  • Bryant Park :: One of my favorite places in the entire city for Christmas. It also has the only free ice skating rink in the city {although you do need to rent or bring your own skates}. There’s a huge tree, vendors, music and a skating rink! And gorgeous views of the city.
  • Central Park :: Go ice skating at Wollman Rink and then grab a glass of champagne or a cocoa at Tavern on the Green. Tavern on the Green is always decorated beautifully and I love looking over the park. I personally love carriage rides in the evening, but I know there are mixed opinions.
  • Christmas Markets :: There are Christmas markets all over the city, but a few of my favorites are Bryant Park, Columbus Circle, Union Square, and Grand Central Station!
  • Cruise :: I really love Classic Harbor Line cruises! We do their Cocoa and Carols cruise every year and also love their sunset cruises year round. They are a great way to see the city skyline and you get really close to the Statue of Liberty.
  • Empire State Building :: In my opinion, skip going up- there are better viewpoints {Top of Rock or One World}. The lobby is pretty if you want to go inside, but I recommend just enjoying the way the building lights up at night.
  • Fifth Avenue :: Walk Fifth Avenue- from the Plaza down to Rockefeller. {and further if your feet can handle it!} A few of my favorites are always Bergdorf Goodman, SAKS, Macy’s and Bloomingdales- but they are actually located a bit further north on Lexington}.
  • Lotte New York Palace {aka The Palace} :: You might recognize this courtyard from Gossip Girl. They always have a gorgeous tree set up and it’s a really photogenic location.
  • Oculus :: This landmark train station is worth visiting year round, but this year they’ve built a gorgeous Christmas village inside! It’s stunning and worth visiting!
  • Rockefeller Center :: THE Christmas tree of the city. It’s always insanely huge and worth the visit. I love the view from Fifth Avenue, but you also need to go up close and see the rink. FAO Schwartz is right here too!
  • Rockettes Radio City Christmas Spectacular :: My mom and I used to come watch the show when I was younger and we’ve gone a couple times since we’ve lived here. I can’t wait to take Cayson when he is old enough! If you can’t see the show, at least go take a picture outside the building!
  • Rolf’s Restaurant :: You’ve probably seen this places on Instagram. It looks like a Christmas tree exploded inside. It’s decorated for Christmas year round, but it feels extra cheerful at Christmas.
  • SAKS Fifth Avenue :: The light show on the building is so fun and they knocked it out of the park this year! It’s so good! Go inside too- it’s like a Christmas wonderland.
  • Seaport :: I’ve grown to really love the Seaport area over the past couple of years. There are so many great restaurants in the area and there are some cute shops popping up too! And it’s decorated really well for Christmas!

Did I miss anything?
